The chorus to the Weeknd's Can't Feel My Face (released June 8, 2015) is oddly reminiscent of Hall and Oates' last Billboard Hot 100 number one single, Out of Touch (released October 4, 1984). Same key and similar chord progressions (though tempos and melodies differ.

Additional notes/observations:

DNCE's song Cake by the Ocean (released September 18, 2015) bears a strong resemblance to several songs including Donna Summer's Bad Girls, Falco's/After The Fire's Der Kommissar, and particularly Cake's Never There (released October 13, 1998). DNCE's Joe Jonas has suggested that the title resulted from a mistranslation of "sex on the beach" by a Swedish producer (perhaps it's a thinly veiled referenced to the song's true lineage). Cake by the Ocean and Never There share the same key (E minor), basic verse chord progression (Emin-Amin-B7sus4-B7), and production/arrangement (single lead guitar riff outlining the chord changes).

Adele's When We Were Young (released January 22, 2016) from her record-breaking third studio album, 25, echoes several earlier pop hits including Bad Day by Daniel Powter (released 2005), Mary's Prayer by Danny Wilson (released April 6, 1987), Harmony by Elton John (released 1973), I Made It Through the Rain by Barry Manilow (released 1980) and more (SEE Below). In particular, When We Were Young and Bad Day share keys (Eb) and verse chord progressions. Compare the changes starting with WWWY's "'Cause I've been by myself all night long/Hoping you're someone I used to know" with Bad Day's line "You tell me your life's been way off line/You're falling to pieces every time/And I don't need no carrying on."

Additional notes/observations:

The intro/chorus piano melody to Flo Rida's My House (released October 15, 2015) owes a musical debt to the intro/bass melody to the Four Tops chestnut It's the Same Old Song (released July 9, 1965), while My House's chord changes are similar to those found in Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions' People Get Ready (also released in 1965). Allegedly, writer Lamont Dozier created Same Old Song's progression by reversing the changes to his preceding Tops' hit, I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch).

Meghan Trainor's soulful duet with John Legend, Like I'm Gonna Lose You (released June 23, 2015) has already been compared to Sam Cooke's Bring It on Home to Me here. However, Like I'm Gonna Lose You is also reminiscent of Amy Winehouse's cover of the Phil Spector standard To Know Him Is to Love Him (released 2007). Similarities include: key (C), chorus chord progression: LIGLY substitues the relative minor for the second chord, but otherwise has the same progression as TKHItLH (LIGLY: I-iii-vi-IV or C, E min, A min, F; TKHItLH: I-V-vi-IV or C, G, A min, F), and meter: 12/8 for both.

While X Ambassadors' hit Renegades (released March 3, 2015) mines the same folksy/jamboree territory as the Lumineers and Mumford and Sons, it's chord changes are reminiscent of British rock group Sniff 'n' the Tears' Driver's Seat (released 1979).
