Additional notes/observations:

The verse vocal melody to Leo Sayer's signature 70s soft rock ballad, When I Need Love (released February 1977) bears a strong resemblance to the chorus vocal melody to Leonard Cohen's folk song Famous Blue Raincoat (released 1971). The intro/outro vocal melody to Elton John and Gary Osborne's pop hit Little Jeannie (released May 1,1980) also seems to take inspiration from Famous Blue Raincoat (i.e "You stepped into my life from a bad dream [...]"). Thanks to Ian R. (@77BlueJays) for suggesting this comparison!

While tempos and keys certainly differ, Elton John's I'm Still Standing (released July 3, 1983) seems to owe a debt to Night's top 40 US hit Hot Summer Nights (released 1979).

Foyxgen's retro-sounding song How Can You Really is reminiscent of Todd Rundgren's classic '70's hit I Saw The Light, as well as Peter Frampton's I'm In You.

Singer-songwriter Dan Fogelberg's hit Heart Hotels (released 1980) seems to borrow it's verse vocal melody and piano intro/arrangement from America's hit Daisy Jane (released July, 1975). Oh, and Daisy Jane was from America's album Hearts.
